15 Days to go!!

27 August, 2008 in Just thinking 亂想 | Comments (0)

15 days to go and I will be in the land of Down Under… very looking forward to it.

And I haven’t see my fiance for 9 months! I just find out that he has cut his long hair tonight. I’m also a bad fiance I guess (not just a bad citizen)…

I once told my colleague that I wish time in August will past quickly but slow down in Septmeber so I can enjoy my stay in Australia… I hope that will come true.

Time is a funny thing.

Time used to feel slower when you were young, you hoped to grow up faster, learn thing quicker so you can become an adult and made your own decision. Time is all you have.

Time flies quicker when you are older. You wish you can freeze time to enjoy life, or have more time to complete few more urgent jobs, or even go back time to be a kid so you don’t need to worry about work, money, life and problems. Time is limited for you & you can’t go back in time.

West Sharp Wor~~~

Many travelers travel to Mainland China normally have the very same confusion on the food translation. I often receive emails with pictures showing how ridicious the translation can be, also funny that is…

For example:

(Chinese) 干炒牛河 = (English) Dry fried Beef Rice Noodles = (Mainland English) Fuck fried Cow River

(Chinese) 西多司 = (English) French Toast = (Mainland English) West more Privates

There are many many of them and it is not why I write this post.

I had a email conversation with my colleagues at work today, using this “super” translation. Why I call it “super”? Because your brain will hurt when you talk like that.

M said “More coconut do arrive want die”

V said “! 真的好SUPER bor…”

P said “Hear no road…!!” (in Hokkien speaking)

M said “I ground ear back brave talk coconut good nothing?”

P said “One drop too no good!!”

V said “No Good!!”

M said “Egg is brave face you rice “ng” will eye sleep “lor””

Our conversation was like this:

M said “死” (English translation: So many work to do & wanted to die)

V said “! 真的好SUPER bor…” (English translation: Wow! That’s really super bor…)

P said… well I don’t really know what she said, coz it was in Hokkien!!

M said “我地以後敢講好無?” (English translation: We will talk like this from now on okay?)

P said “一點都好!!” (English translation: No good for a bit!!)

V said “no good!”

M said “但敢樣你米眼瞓囉” (English translation: But then you won’t be sleepy lor)

So, what is “West Sharp wor…”

答案 Answer: “犀利wor…”

I’m a bad citizen

25 August, 2008 in Just thinking 亂想 | Comments (2)

I’m a bad citizen.

I never vote for my country(ies) in my life.

I only vote once for my University Union. That’s it.

I wasn’t old enough to vote when I was in Hong Kong. I wasn’t a citizen when I was studying in Australia. I wasn’t a resident when I’m now in Hong Kong. I am a resident in Macao but don’t need to vote.

And there is also a confusion. Which is my country? What do you call yourself? People in my generation often held more than one passport. We first need to know how to identify ourselves, find ourselves, before voting for your country.

I was thinking to enroll to vote in HK, but do I really care who I vote to join the Government? Does anyone in my generation do? I believe there was not a lot of political education available in Hong Kong. Or simply people in my generation or the younger generation just not careless? I don’t know. Maybe that explains why the voting ratio is getting lower every time.

I surely will consider to vote when I’m back in Australia. But in Hong Kong? The final control is still in the Mainland.

The power is limited.

One month to Australia

11 August, 2008 in Living life 生活傳記 | Comments (0)

Today is the exactly one month away of my return to Australia. I have started packing (as always) but only few things are in my luggage. As I’m going to my friend’s wedding this time, there are few things that I must bring extra, which provide limited space for me to pack other things. So I need to prepare wisely of which things I should bring. That’s frustrated me. I was going to take my big luggage, the one I took to the States, but I also don’t want it half full and just like the washing machine… all mixed it together! So I have decided to take the small one… I bloody need a medium luggage…

Currently watching volleyball (China vs Polland)… also changing channel around, just like a normal man. Playing with the remote control. It is fun to play with.. and changing screen doesn’t hurt my eyes if I’m the one who’s changing it.. haha…

Couldn’t sleep last night.. so tired today and working at the new office makes it more boring… hope it will get better tomorrow…

Venetian Macao Tickets: https://www.venetianmacaotickets.com/VCLTicketing/event.do

I have been wanting to watch Cirque du Soleil for a while, and I always heard people’s comments were that “they are very good”, and “they do things that you did not expect”! As the employee of the Venetian, I am able to enjoy the show for free, also taking my parents as well…

The show starts unexpectingly on time, right at 8pm. But honestly it was a little boring at the beginning. People still coming in and blocked the view. Mum and I had a very good seat, right next to the aisle and mum got a rose from one of the performers. The ticket that I got for Dad was up at the baloney, but I think he got the better view - the whole stage view. The show lasts 90 mins and I was almost fall asleep in one part. Some of my friends even fall asleep in four to five part. It was good in general saying, I mean I have been in the Grand Opening for the Venetian Macao and already experienced some of their performance, so I was not as excited as others, for example my mum… She definitely enjoyed the show… (she actually caught the 6pm ferry after work from Hong Kong to Macao to watch the 8pm show, crazy…)

There was another interesting thing that I try to notice when I was in the show… I was trying to recognise the performers as I often see them around at the staff canteen… I always curious to see what they eat for having such a good muscler bodies… they can be naughty, they eat McDonald’s!!! So McDonald’s keeps you for having a great arse? I wonder…

No photos are allowed in the show so sorry for not be able to show it to you all…
