Self Cooking – Pasta Dumplings

25 March, 2008 in Food Paradise 美食樂園 | Comments (2)

Went back to Hong Kong last long weekend. It was Easter so I wanted to have a nice dinner for my family. So I cooked dinner last Friday (Good Friday).

Shopped in Taste in Kowloon Tong, saw this huge seashell pasta so I decided to buy a box and try to cook something with it. Such a big shell I thought, it was a waste to just cook it like any other pasta, so I finely chopped onion; red & yellow pepper (skin off); bacon; asparaguses, and then cooked with minced beef to fill these almost cooked shells. Then I topped it with creamy mush potato and cheese. Put these in oven and heat them up! Then serve with tomato herb sauce with vegetables. They was a good experiment.

(Pic: don’t worry, I didn’t only had three shells… we had almost 10 each!!)

I also bought some meat: two type of air dried ham – one from Italy and another one from Spain. I personally like the Spain one, it has the stronger favour. Another one is pepper pork leg. The skin is the best part, it has the spicy and smoky taste!!

At last, we ended the meal with two type of French cheese… Brie and something else (can’t remember!!) that was very creamy and smooth… go best with red wine!!! Yummmm~~

Maroon 5

Maroon 5 concert was over before 10:30pm, a little disappointed that it ended so soon, but it was very good. Live is always better than CDs. They also have “showed off” the vocal and how they play the music. I especially like the drums and bass…. soooooooo cool… Once you have heard an international band played live, you will not want to listen any of current Hong Kong singers. (Maybe the 80′s singer like Jacky Cheung, he’s good)

I’m now looking forward to the James Blunt Concert in May… hohoho…

Lost in Blue 2

18 March, 2008 in Living life 生活傳記 | Comments (0)

Havn’t been addicted to something for sometime. I used to love playing Warcraft and Civilization on PC when I was in College and Uni. But since I got my Mac, I had to say bye bye to PC game. Until now, I have found a new gaming addiction – Lost in Blue 2 in NDS.

I know the version 3 has been out and I am already a little slow on this, but I must say this is really cool. You will feel like you are Tom Hanks in Cast Away, except this time you have a partner, let say, Meg Ryan… two of you trying to stay alive in this island. So Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in a new season of Survivor… (hmm… I think I have a great imagination!! Hahaha)

This game is truly addicive as you will try to improve your life (or Tom Hanks’ life) not just staying alive, you can build tree houses! (I am not on that stage yet but I’m in the last stage of improving my furniture in my cave) However I need to pay a little price on this new addiction, as I play this game for hours, my left arm is really sore by holding the NDS for so long. I have tried many positions, but it doesn’t help much.

So friend, if you want to start to play this game, think carefully, as you might want to train yourself as a left handed before this (I know sometimes it can’t be trained but if you never tried, who knows??), so at least you can change your arm when your left arm got sore when holding your NDS for too long…

New 和花亭 at Harbour City

I went to 和花亭 last Friday for dinner, it has been “upgraded” again… in terms of pricing as well as the menu. Some items has been added as well as deleted. However I must comment on their “Fresh list” (that’s what I called it coz it is not on the menu, it is written on the white boards, hanging on the wall) Their fresh list is really fresh (derr..), I mean, you can tell that they are not lying. Where I sat that day was right in front of the head chef’s cutting board. It was interesting to see how he cut and slide the fishes and seashells, as well as the decoration on the dish.

I ordered a fresh oyster from the “fresh list” and it was as big as my hand, and it only costs HKD 45.00 each. It is quite a good value considering the yen is high at the moment. :P

My dad has also order a seasonal sushi from the “fresh list”, we had no idea what it was until it arrived at our table. It was the flower of the “wasabi plant” (those plant that make wasabi)… interesting and it only cost HKD 15.00 per 2 pieces.

Of course we have ordered lot more than that but they weren’t from the “fresh list”… I always think that 和花亭 is the best sushi train place that I ever been to in Hong Kong (for value of course)… will let you know more “fresh item” next time :)
