I went to two parties on last Friday night. First of all, it was THE Australian Day on the 26th and I got invited to an Australian BBQ night. It was a windy night in Macao so we had dinner inside. It was interesting to see only Australian in one place. You will have no idea how many Aussie like to work in overseas. It is amazing…
I left the first party at around 11:30pm and I went to the famous Scottish Party – Burns Supper. It is a celebration of the life and poetry of the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns, author of many Scots poems.
I went to one cultural party to another.. it was weird to see men in skirt! (actually is Kilt) They drank and they danced, it was incredible to see one tradition from a foreign country can be so united in another.

I went to InProjects Chinese New Year Dinner as Vernette’s partner last night… it was held in Star World 16th floor, it was a buffet style dinner. The food was okay so I’m not going to tell you all in details. The best time of the night was towards the end when people started leaving… as usual, I’m not those people who leave early. I turned down two “going home opportunies” and decided to stay chatting with friends. We were drinking red wine initially then one the last order, almost everyone changed to Bailey’s on the rock. I thought, that’s cool, some milk before bed time. We then moved to the Whiskey Bar next door, for more drinks and chatting session, I don’t like black beer so I ordered Long Island Ice Tea. Bad choice. I must say, the Whiskey Bar in Star World has some good bartenders coz they put plenty of alcohol in and it will make you feel it is good for value. But it was just bloody strong! I had 2 of those and it didn’t mix well with what I had been drinking before…We moved to another place which was outdoor and the chill air started to put effect on me… I now glad that I did what I did… coz if not, I will be so sick today.
We all went home at 5:30am this morning, drunk (well, I let it out so I wasn’t that drunk then). I woke up by a phone call at 8:45am, caught a cab at 9am and arrived at work at 9:10am. And I managed to do my daily work today… I think I’m doing pretty good job. For sure, I will go home and have an early night tonight…
It was a fun night, met new people and caught up with some old friends. But I wonder: Am I too old to do that now? It is not good for my skin wor…

It is colder in Macao these few days… I think it is nice at night. The cold makes it extra nice to stay in the bed… however, it make it hard to get up in the morning!!!
It is always nice to have a nice winter near Chinese New Year. It wasn’t cold last year and it seemed there was something missing… I hope it will be like this until Chinese New Year… and more red pocket money too… hehehe

My house feels empty after Chris left. I know it will take a while for me to get used to it. However there is one thing that I noticed straight away is hard to get used to. It is the noise at night in the house. When you are alone in the house, you don’t expect other sound that are not caused by you… but in Macao, it rule won’t apply.
Macao housing’s wall is super thin. I never stay in the place that you actually can hear people from next door talking before. When I first stayed in Macao, I seriously thought the place was haunted! My Australian friends, if you never stayed in the apartment before then you won’t understand what I mean.
I often hear chairs being pulled back and forth from upstairs; water pipes sound between walls; people walking from upstairs; people talking & arguing next door; people dropping thing on the ground… these sound seems very loud at night, especially when you are in bed, about to sleep. When you thought you were hearing your door was being knocked, it might be just because someone has dropped something on the ground from upstairs… These sound often scared the hell out of me! Especially you know there is no-one else in the house… it is spooky. One time, it was before Chris came to visit me, I got so scared that I actually took my bible onto my bed and hugged it to sleep… don’t laugh, if you were me, you probably would do the same.
I couldn’t sleep well for the last two days for the same reason. I hope I will sleep better tonight, even if I need to take my bible with me, I don’t care…
